Joost is software with a system for distributing TV shows, movies, and other forms of video over the web. Joost uses a peer-to-peer TV technology. The technology was created by the founders of Skype of Kazaa. Joost delivers near-TV resolution. Joost turns a PC instantly into an on-demand TV. Features include news updates, discussion forums, show ratings, and chat rooms linked to streams.
hulu is a streaming video page that is still in beta and not available to the public at large. Like YouTube, hulu allows you to embed their videos on your website. Thus, somebody embedded every hulu video available so that people not in beta could have access to hulu’s media. The page is known as OPENhulu and, since it is full of hulu’s content, there is a ton of full-length television programs to stream for free.

At Surf the Channel, you can find links to free streams of just about any full-length television program out there. They also have a growing list of movies that is already quite large indeed. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that they have just about everything you can think of.
Although it’s perfectly legal for you to go to their site and watch anything you find, I do wonder just how legal it is for them to offer all of these programs for free. Nonetheless, as far as I can tell, this site is one of the best of its kind.

Hulu is a video streaming site that offers plenty of great full-length programs and even movies to stream. Hulu offers arguably the best legal offering of full-length streaming shows, films, and clips.
At the time of this article, Hulu is still in a beta stage and is not open to the public. I signed up for an invitation and received one within weeks so it’s not a waste of time to sign up. Alternatively, you can watch most of Hulu’s programming at Open Hulu which embeds all of Hulu’s programming.

CBS, like other major networks, offers their own listing of full-length programming that you can watch for free on their website.

Despite the annoying fact that the site automatically loads noisy video when you first visit it, ABC’s home on the web does offer full episodes to stream for free.

SopCast is a free program for watching TV stations, watching movies, and even listening to audio. SopCast employs Peer-to-Peer technology and allows users to broadcast their own stations as well.

PPMate is a free program for Windows for watching online TV programs. It requires Windows Media Player 9. I can’t say too much about it as it seems to be mostly Asian programming and in a foreign language. If you have a good or bad experience with the program, please share a comment!

JLC’s Internet TV is a free program that gives you free access to thousands of TV channels. The database of channels available through JLC’s Internet TV is huge; there are a ton of free channels to watch.
Users of JLC’s Internet TV are able to rate, flag, and even submit channels. The flagging and rating system help users sort out the bogus channels quickly and easily.
The only real requirement for JLC’s Internet TV is Windows Media Player and the setup download weighs in at less than 1 Mb. For some streams, you will be required to have Real Player installed as well.
